The first South African People's Health University (SAPHU) is currently taking place (2-6 December 2013) at the School of Public Health, University of Western Cape) organised by PHM South Africa in conjuction with the National Education, Health and Allied Workers' Union (NEHAWU). There are approximately 50 participants consisting of members of NEHAWU, Oxfam and PHM activists (from Gauteng, Western Cape, Eastern Cape and Kwazulu Natal).
