On 28-30 October 2013, in Kampala, Uganda, PHM country circles in eastern Africa came together to define regional health priorities and to coordinate actions for
PHM across seven countries. Delegates from Djibouti, Somaliland, Rwanda,
Burundi, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda shared experiences and worked toward a
common PHM East Africa action plan, built on country programmes. Ideas on
building and maintaining strong grassroots movements were discussed,
with support from Linda Shuro, the Africa Regional Coordinator. PHM country
circles contributed resources to make the regional meeting possible, and
French/English interpretation was provided courtesy of PHM Rwanda.
A joint
launch of Global Health Watch 3 took place at the closing ceremony on 30 Oct., in
Kampala, followed by the issuing of PHM East Africa's Kampala Call to Action, signed by the PHM delegations.
